Hi, everyone. Welcome back to my fashion blog. Today we will continue on Valentino, but the main character is Pierpaolo Piccioli for this time. You might want to say who is Pierpaolo Piccioli? After today’s blog, you will know who is he, his contributions to Valentino, and the two recent Valentino Haute Couture reviews. Don’t forget to follow my Instagram and get the notifications for the new blog posts.
Who is Pierpaolo Piccioli?
If every girl has a dream to be a princess, Valentino, the fashion brand, helps girls to make the dream come true in real life. The person behind the scenes of Valentino’s Haute Couture shows is Pierpaolo Piccioli, the creative director of Valentino since 2008. At first, he and Maria Grazia Chiuri were the co-creative directors of Valentino. In 2016, he started a new position as the sole creative director at Valentino. Pierpaolo Piccioli loves filming and cameras. He wanted to be a movie director when he was young. However, when he found how fashion can also elaborate on people’s thoughts and ideas as filming, he decided to study fashion and become a great storyteller in the fashion world. He finished his school at Rome’s Istituto Europeo di Design.
For Pierpaolo Piccioli, he really loves the fashion concept of Punk. For Punk culture, it emphasizes individualism and contemporary freedom. He also loves Valentino’s symbol color, red, but he wants to express red with different meanings.
Pierpaolo Piccioli Contributions
- He helps Valentino become a more international brand.
- Widely successful Rockstud shoes
- Understand what confident women want to wear today (over-sized, casual, streetwear)
- Making Valentino towards more everyday wear clothing brand
Review on Two Recent Valentino Haute Couture Shows
Haute Couture Fall Winter 2019/2020
The first opinion came to my mind is too wild. Most of the clothes are so wild and bold, which are not something normal people would like to wear them and go out. So unrealistic.
Love:
- Diversity and inclusive
- For this time, more than half of the models are black women and Asian models. Valentino also included an elder model.
- Using various colors, texture, and floral like small details and patterns
Hate:
- Few designs are like the mopping that uses to clean the floor

Highlight Designs
Valentino is always good at designing dresses for daywear and nightwear. Here are three dresses from this time that I really prefer.

Ready To Wear Spring/Summer 20
This time, Valentino introduced ROCKSTUD SPIKE FLUO, trying to recreate the brilliant history of Rockstud shoes. Valentino Ready To Wear Spring/Summer 20 took place on September 30, 2019. The whole fashion showed people the design team wisely using white and fluorescence colors. Fluorescent color is a trendy color for this year and next year. Valentino also knows how to attract the Asian market. For women in Asia, they love the concept of oversized clothing, including jumpsuits. Overall, I really enjoy the ready to wear spring/summer 2020 fashion show. I love the color, the modern daywear, and streetwear.

Highlight Designs

Overall, Valentino is doing great with the lead of Pierpaolo Piccioli. We hope Valentino has more hitting designs like Rockstud shoes in the next few years.
